7digital What we said: When pressed to describe their sound, All We Are plumped for “the Bee Gees on diazepam.” It’s an amusing prospect but, like all sound-bites, the reality is even more complex. Yes, there’s a fair bit of falsetto-harmonising involved on their self-titled debut, and the hypnotic groove of ‘I Wear You’ lies at the lysergic end of disco, but it’s informed by funk and soul too. Most importantly, the Liverpool-based trio steer clear of pastiche by twisting these nostalgic sounds into fresh new shapes. A promising debut, ideal for after-hours listening.
